Refund Policy
Last updated September 4, 2026
1. Billing
Pro and Team subscriptions renew automatically each billing period through Stripe until you cancel. You can see your current plan and billing status any time from your dashboard's Billing page.
2. Cancelling a monthly subscription
Cancel any time from the Billing page or by emailing hello@smilekisan.com. You keep your current plan's access through the end of the billing period you already paid for, then your organization moves to the Free plan automatically — no partial-period refund is issued for the unused time.
3. Cancelling an annual subscription
Annual plans are billed at a discount (the equivalent of two months free compared to paying monthly). Cancelling an annual plan doesn't end your access immediately: it continues until the next monthly anniversary of your original activation date on or after the date you cancel — for example, activating on the 3rd of a month and cancelling on the 15th of a later month keeps your plan active until the 3rd of the month after that.
Because the discount is priced in as your last two months, not spread evenly across the year, a refund is only owed if you cancel before using 10 months of service: you're charged the full standard monthly rate for each month you actually used, and refunded the difference between that and what you originally paid. If you've already used 10 or more months, you've received the full value of the annual price and no refund is due, whether or not you continue into the discounted final two months. Refunds are issued to your original payment method once the cancellation takes effect (not on the day you request it), and are automatic — no need to contact support unless something looks wrong.
4. Refunds for billing errors
If you were charged in error — a duplicate charge, a charge after you'd already cancelled, or similar — contact us within [14 / 30 days — pick your window] of the charge and we'll make it right.
[Optional: state whether you offer a first-time-subscriber refund window, e.g. "First-time subscribers can request a full refund within 7 days of their first charge, no questions asked."]
5. Failed payments
If a renewal charge fails (an expired or declined card), we retry it automatically before your organization's access changes. If retries continue to fail, your organization moves to the Free plan's limits until payment succeeds — nothing is deleted, and upgrading again restores full access immediately.
